Zvolen Castle dominates the city of Zvolen. It is located at the southern end of Námestie SNP and in the 14th century it was built by King Ľudovít I. as a Gothic hunting lodge. At present days the Slovak National Gallery has a permanent exposure in the castle.Masses, concerts and weddings are held on the eastern side of the courtyard. Many events are regularly held in the castle, such as the Castle Music Spring and the Night of Fear and Laughter in April, the theatre festival in June or the Summer Shakespeare Festival in August.
