Mining historic town of BanskáŠtiavnica has been a UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage since 1993. In a stone town situated in the hills, mostly silver was mined. In the city centre, visitors can see the palaces of the rich miners, but also the small mining houses and watch the beautiful view. You can also visit four mining galleries, Scouts' Taverns, but also one of the most beautiful Baroque Calvary in Europe. One of the most important places in medieval Europe was the first technical university in the world - the Mining academy.
